Handlebars

(this is not the original music video. Embedding was disallowed in the original video. check it out "here"

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Look at me, look at me
hands in the air like it's good to be
ALIVE
and I'm a famous rapper
even when the paths're all crookedy
I can show you how to do-si-do
I can show you how to scratch a record
I can take apart the remote control
And I can almost put it back together
I can tie a knot in a cherry stem
I can tell you about Leif Ericson
I know all the words to "De Colores"
And "I'm Proud to be an American"
Me and my friend saw a platypus
Me and my friend made a comic book
And guess how long it took
I can do anything that I want cuz, look:

I can keep rhythm with no metronome
No metronome
No metronome

I can see your face on the telephone
On the telephone
On the telephone

Look at me
Look at me
Just called to say that it's good to be
ALIVE
In such a small world
All curled up with a book to read
I can make money open up a thrift store
I can make a living off a magazine
I can design an engine sixty four
Miles to a gallon of gasoline
I can make new antibiotics
I can make computers survive aquatic conditions
I know how to run a business
And I can make you wanna buy a product
Movers shakers and producers
Me and my friends understand the future
I see the strings that control the systems
I can do anything with no assistance
I can lead a nation with a microphone
With a microphone
With a microphone
I can split the atoms of a molecule
Of a molecule
Of a molecule

Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let'em all die in exasperation
Have'em all healed of their lacerations
Have'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like'em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust
In a holocaust

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handle bars
No handlebars

I can ride my bike with no handlebars
No handlebars
No handlebars

Wimbledon - (this should have been the movie)

On July 5th a champion and a pretender entered the center court of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Two champions left it. They gave us a match that was priceless. Both of them chasing records. One aiming to become the first to win the title 6 times in a row after the 1880s, the other trying to becoming the first spaniard since the late 60s to win the french and the wimbledon. Trying, since 2006.

It had everything. It was, like, the perfect script. The challenger winning the first two sets; The champion looking out of sorts against his much improved nemesis. Third set was even better. Rain interrupted play at 5-5 (I guess). Two hours of wait. The wait to see if the champion would succumb in straight sets. The hope that he wouldn't hanging in the air around. Then, the rain stopped. Federer took the third set. Millions jumped for joy that second. I just know.

Champions dig in. Pretenders dig their pants.

Fourth set. Oh boy oh boy oh boy, the fourth set. If you ask me to watch it again and again for an entire day even, I would gladly do it. And thank you for it too. There were too many awesome shots to mention a few. They jumped, they ran, they served, they ran, they volleyed, they ran, they shouted "come On!!!", then ran some more. Supercharged men on supercharged legs with supercharged spirits. The challenger faced the down-but-not-out champion serving to stay in the match. He was forced to corners of the court he had probably never set foot on. What happened next was magic. Sheer magic. A backhand down the line pass facing match point. I woke up my mom from her sleep with my whoops of joy!!

5th set began. Guess who entered at 2-2 ? Rain again. This is when I had a bad feeling. Because the match slowly crept into monday. But I consoled myself saying it was still sunday in London. Rain ended, the 5th set continued. I settled down with pieces of cake and biscuits. Midnight snacks rock. it was 5-4, the challenger serving at 30-30. I wished the miracle comeback would be complete. No. At 6-5 and 30 all, Again I crossed my fingers. It wouldn't happen. The challenger broke his serve instead. And with that took the game as well.

The best match of tennis I've seen in a long long time. The crowd had a whale of a time. The family and friends would have probably thought that they 'd ridden all the rollercoaster rides in the world. Vijay Amritraj said " Now I've said everything!". Such was the intensity of the play.
But someone had to win. And the challenger did deserve it. The champion deserved it too. But that's the way things ended.

"If Roger Federer were superman then Nadal has finally found his Kryptonite." Maybe. But Roger will be back. To take back what is rightly his. The Gentlemen's singles championship. Nadal is an awesome player. Agreed. But first he should grow up, become a gentleman and then come back. Agreed?

Roger Federer was unrivalled on grass. Nadal stood up to him. Played with Fed's mind. But the will to stay in the match that Federer displayed on the 7th of July was something new, something fierce. He has his sights set on the French open trophy alright. He has his sights set on redemption.

Majesty meets muscle part II. Waiting for it. Oh yea.

"I'm fat, lazy and proud of it."

This is to inform you that The Daily garfield strip is back on this page. And this time no random strips. I'll put them up in a chronological order starting from June 19, 1978. You can thank me later :P. One per day or two days in case i forget, but mostly I won't. You can find it at the bottom of the page.

Now I'll leave you with a few words.

"I will rise but I won't shine" - Garfield.

P.s : Somebody will be really happy.

Jul 2, 2008

I'm it.

I shalt now take up the responsibility of taking up the tags bestowed upon me by two people. They art : Iyer and Iyer maami. (Copyrighted even. Only me and shrey use this name.)

The wishing tag :

1) One religious work from a non-familiar tradition you’ll read…

Something on Cao Dai most probably.

2) One song that you like–from your ‘least likely to listen to’ genre…

Least likely to listen to genre : Opera

Song : All of them go "AAAAAAaaaAAA".

3) A book from a genre you almost never read, that you have read, or you will read (promise!):

Philosophy. I should have read "Like a flowing river". Given that I bought it a year back.

4) Somewhere you’d never thought to go on holiday/vacation, and why it might be fun to go there?

Hawaii. Need I say why?

5) A specific food you’ve never tried, but will because of this meme, honest!

Pineapple upside down cake.

6) A sport or game you really hate, or haven’t tried yet, but are willing to give one more go:

There's no sport I hate. But lots I haven't tried. Golf or sumo it is.

7) A style of dance you probably won’t try (we won’t make you promise on this one):

The conga. (Dum dum dum dum dum hey!)

8 ) A career job you don’t feel you’re suited for, and why:

Stunt double : The spirit is willing but the body is not.

9) What is it that you will dare to wear which you have never worn before?

Pattaapatti. (striped undroyer for the less knowledgible folks :P)

10) If there’s one thing in life you wanted to do, and will do because of this meme, what will it be?

I resolve to write a 100 page story on "My pet cat". It was a challenge posed by a friend of mine --> Hari Babu

Now for the second one.

3 JOYS:

A perfectly well-timed witty/sarcastic/funny/ mokkai remark by me.

An excellent movie or a wonderful song or a great book.

A job well done.

3 FEARS:

Fear of waking up one day and finding out that my sarcasm bone is missing. Worst fear that is.

Fear of heights.(a little)

Fear of getting stuck with people like my teachers for the rest of my life. They suck the 'interesting' out of interesting stuff even.

3 GOALS:

To write my autobiography before I'm 60.

To have a pet dog.

To climb Mt.Everest.

3 RANDOM SURPRISING FACTS:

My left leg is longer than my right.

You make eyes at a girl and you'll find that she becomes curious and starts looking at you. Works like a charm. :)

Scribbling is an excellent way of easing your pent up frustration.

3 CURRENT OBSESSIONS/COLLECTIONS:

Garfield.

Origami.

Java.

(quite a weird combo eh?)

That's it. I'm the done. Next on my list, the long pending travelogue. Patience is a virtue, I've heard. :P

Tiddy Boom!

BSNL and a few other unknown antagonists are plotting against me and reducing the frequency of my posts. It happens every month towards the last 5-6 days. If a lie be told. :P

If truth be told, I should be careful with when I switch on my downloads.

Anyway I'm back and this post is for him. He who kept me entertained during this internet farce.

And also to Jeremy and Kimi, my origami creations.
