High hopes......

Take a moment to read this.......

High Hopes - Pink Floyd

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down the causeway
Do they still meet there by the cut
There was a ragged man that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

****

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
go down this road we've been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever
"Hey, is that Charlie? yes... Hello Charlie... great"

I guess you did do that, for your sake, else you are missing s something in life. My personal favorite of the many great Pink Floyd numbers there are, High hopes, is one heck of a song.
The trip down memory lane is what I would call it if asked to rename it. But then no one would ask me to because "High hopes " is an apt title in itself.

Remember all the times you stared at something , say, wall , notebook in hand, the moon, the neighbour's dog, the girl next door, the rain falling down....and thought." Some day I will _____ ___". High hopes for our future. The grass always looked greener on the other side. As nithya says, or rather somebody said and she quoted ( :P )

"It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's
also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives."

Can you look back at life and say with a straight face and un-crossed fingers and true to your conscience that you were completely satisfied with your life, that you did everything you did, everything within your ability, everything you could do to make those stare-time dreams or hopes come true??

Nostalgia is a temporary uplifter and a medicine to tweak yourself but that kind of thing which when you consume as an overdose you fail to see that it is reality you are swallowing. It doesn't hurt to look back. But you never know when a stone is aimed at your forehead the moment you look ahead again....

One more thing I wanna bring to your notice today...something I saw in a comment page. A comment by Priya which had a link....A link which made me smile.... This link
" Don't congratulate yourself too much for what you have done and do not berate yourself either.." -- Part of the video..

"The older you get the better you get unless you are a banana!!" ( said Sidhu during one of his sane-not so flashy and not just making it bombastic for the crowd-days ).

Certain songs and movies are worth watching even if downloading them makes some people exceed their download limit.!!

*Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb, High Hopes, Another Brick In the wall, Dark side of the moon.

*Metallica - Nothing else matters, Fade to black.

*Snow patrol - Chasing cars

*Limp bizkit - Behind blue eyes

*Iron maiden - Hallowed be thy name

*Anbe sivam ( Song And the movie )

*Pursuit of happYness ( HappYness isn't that easy to get...)

* Finding neverland ( A drop of water is a whole new world for the creative mind...)

*The green mile ( People are not what they seem..You can find great friends where you are not looking)

*The terminal ( What if you lose everything??.)

* The road to perdition (Family..)

*Finding Forrester (You are not born the way you are..It is what you choose to become..)

*Cast away ( Take things in your stride..)

*Good will hunting ( Trust your gut! )

*Forrest Gump ( Life is like a box of chocolates)

*Gladiator ( stand tall...)

Make it a point to watch or listen to these. At least 50 percent of the stuff on this list. Why??
I have no answer..Just a sypathetic look....

Life rocks..

Yea.. i've never noticed the words of that song before. Very beautiful. Yea, i get that thought quite often and yea, :) when you're gazing into space/ nothing-ness . I want to _____.
Because yes, I want something in my life.Something i can tell me grand kids! :P ha ha.. and smile about it when i look back.

Somehow, back in the days they made such good music and we're still thriving from those reverberations. I'm almost ashamed of our generation except for a good handfull of artists.

I was listening to George Michael the other day. Despite all the gossip that goes behind his collar, the man did make some good music. Sis and i were listening to every word and were in a trance!

Now where do we get that these days? And the songs are getting shorter and shorter day by day. What happened to those unending compositions.NOwadays, before you blink its over! huh.

I'm gonna write about this soon. hmmm
