Good 'ol Coimbatore
Five reasons why:
They sell Top Laxmen noodles here. Yes, What innovative thinking!
Kangaroo Kasthuri is the name of a manjal thing brand. ROFL
Axion in coimbatore is a dishwashing paste whereas to Stephen Hawking and his colleagues it is what makes up the dark matter. What a small world!
They played the "Sweet child of mine" music on rainbow FM. Before some female said "vanakkam neyargale" of course. But anyway...

Tag : Movie quirks!
Any movie with Tom Hanks or Jim Carrey is fine with me. Tom hanks especially.
eg. Terminal, Cast away, Green mile, Liar liar, The mask etc
The movies of the comedy/drama genre appeal as well.
eg. Scent of a woman, Wag the dog, Office space etc
I'm not a first day first show type. I'm definitely not the no-theatre type as well.
I have no preferences with respect to actresses when it comes to english movies. Most of them are pretty and act pretty well too. A few exceptions though. I hate Kirsten dunst, Kate winslet and Uma thurman. Don't ask why.
I hate twists in movies which are kept just for the sake of "See I can shoot suspense thrillers as well". All this hostel, house of wax crap.
I love movies which are offbeat. The ones which make you think. The ones with oh-so-awesome dialogues and character portrayals, and that beautifully chosen background score. Even the story would be disturbing or weird the movie I'll love. eg. He was a quiet man, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Saw etc.
Anbe Sivam, Dil chahta hai, Rang de basanthi, Taare Zameen Par, Nayakan, Shawshank redemption,Usual suspects, Fight club, Primal fear, Identity, Se7en. Lucky number slevin and a few others.
I don't know where I stand in the books made into movies category. Some are absolutely beautiful while others simply throw dirt on the books. For example take Lord of the rings- Brilliant.
Harry potter - I don't think anybody could have done it worse.
Some books you cannot make into movies. Trying just makes it lose its charm. Eg. Hannibal rising.
No teen/adult comedies which are nothing but filth and think nudity is the best form of comedy.
Teen/adult comedies with comedy that makes you laugh with minimal or no nudity-->Ok with me. They make an excellent pastime. Eg. Eurotrip, Dukes of hazzard, etc
Animation movies rule. Except a few of 'em which did not appeal to me but sure did to the others.
Movies like Snatch, Lock stock and two smoking barrels, Reservoir dogs. Watch 'em to understand what I mean.
Mushy stuff, Hmm....There are different ways to portray mush. One is the classic way, the shakespearean way. Which is absolute horse shit. The other way is one that I don't know how to describe. So I'll call it the "Holiday" way or "50 first dates" or "Hitch" way.
Coming to tamil.
Again offbeat movies preferred anyday to the thadaal budaal dandanakka ones. I hate the kuthu paattu visuals. I hate songs for the sake of them being there. I hate plagiarised songs.
Almost all of the vijaykanth movies need not be seen fully. Wait till the most brilliant-est moves of the captain come on youtube and a thoughtful friend sends you the link. Try watching the songs in which he dances ( or so he calls it) after muting the Audio. Hilarious.
Vijay movies. Doesn't he get the deja vu feeling when he acts in the movies? How thick can one be?
I don't have any particular quirks for mani ratnam/k.s ravi kumar/A.R.Rahman. Bad movie shot by mani ratnam is also a bad movie.
I believe even though tamil films don't bare it all as the english ones, they are dirtier than the english movies. Even though there is nudity in the english movies it is not shown in a dirty or disgusting way. If not all atleast the ones I've seen are decent and are passionate and no one's dancing all over the park.
As far as hindi movies are concerned I watch the ones which my friends suggest or the ones which I have company for. Hindi love stories strict, no-no.
So you see I watch many different kinds of movies. I wouldn't put it past myself if I see Holiday immediately after watching Saw. And I don't mind if I see the movies I love with friends in a theatre or in front of the PC at home. At the theatre I have company to discuss movies with. At home I can reason with myself. Which is the best kind!
Last watch : Santosh subramaniam ( OK. Over dialogue towards the end. They could have stopped the movie with him telling anu haasan about the deal with her dad)
Scent of a woman (Brilliant. Makes you smile.)
One flew over the cuckoo's nest ( Super. Many scenes worth watching in the movie. Ironic ending however.)
Reservoir dogs (Nothing short of what you can expect from Quentin. Fast, smooth and unexpected end.)
And I dont' watch a movie just because it won an oscar. :)
P.s : Yakkow I finally did it!!

This is one of the posts where I don't have anything specific to type but just keep typing with music running in the background.
Study holidays have begun. Yet again i defy the purpose for which they were given. Or atleast till now. I have a week left. Things will change. I know.
I'm playing NFS most wanted for the second time. Awesome game. The surge you get when you press the nitrous boost button and snatch that win from your opponent is simply priceless. I'm getting better and better. One pursuit went so long that the police had to call off the pursuit. I won more than 500000 bounty in that one pursuit !!
Second season of house ends with house being shot. Awesome episode. One of the best episodes.
I have done fairly well this semester and I feel great. Better averages then ever before, though I feel this is not the most I have studied in my college days. Strange. I'm asked to spend lesser time at the computer than I'm doing now which I'm not OK with. Yet. But I will be. Eventually.
So much has changed in this world. There were times when pants were worn at waists rather than butts. I wish I won't be alive to see it go lower. Gone are the times when rock was something grandma did to put me to sleep. Mobile phones are replacing relationships. And people say they need change and all of this is boring. Not me.
I see that there is a portion of the people who hold their own even with stuff happening all around them. They look at them, shake their heads and go about their jobs just like before. Some of them embrace novelty, just because it is the 'in' thing, even if it something they'd rather not do. Some people dwell in the past, seek solace in or brood about things that have been forgetting about the things that are and to be.
Sigh. People.

Disoriented.
15 year old supermodel has something wrong with her. No cancer no usual diseases. House has a hunch that it is post traumatic stress (and with further evidence) and asks Dad whether he did his daughter. The answer to which is yes.
To their surprise they find out that it was the girl who'd done the seducing. Her dad, the photographer before that, and her tutor before that.
They test for cancer but they don't find anything but symptoms showed tumor. What to do?
But wait she hasn't had a single period yet.
Alex is the 15 yr old btw.
**Gist ends here**
House: I’m thinking she’s the ultimate woman. (He stops to speak to a nurse who is on the phone.) I… (He hangs up the phone by pressing the button.) I need to schedule an MRI.
MRI Lab
Alex: The twitching stopped.
House: Because we changed your medicine back to the real stuff. Stop talking.
Alex: You gave me fake medicine?
House: That’s what I said; in the vain hope that you wouldn’t feel the need to also say it. Stop talking.
Cameron: Wilson already did an ultrasound, said her ovaries were undersized.
House: The ultrasound would be the way to go if you were looking for ovarian cancer.
Cameron: What are we looking for? (The machine beeps.)
House: That.
Cameron: Oh my God.
House: Looks like a tumor doesn’t it?
Cameron: But those are.
House: Yep.
Alex’s Room
House: We found a tumor.
Dad: She has cancer.
House: Technically, no.
Dad: So its not cancer?
House: No, it’s cancer. But, he has cancer, on his left testicle.
Alex: I don’t have testicles.
Dad: She’s not a guy.
House: His DNA says you’re wrong. Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails. You’ve got male pseudohermaphroditism. See we all start out as girls and then we’re differentiated based on our genes. The ovaries develop into testes and drop. But in about 1 in 150,000 pregnancies a fetus with an XY chromosome, a boy, develops into something else. Like you. Your testes never descended because you’re immune to testosterone. You’re pure estrogen, which is why you get heightened female characteristics; clear skin, great breasts. The ultimate woman is a man. Nature’s cruel, huh?
Dad: This is obviously a joke, this is impossible.
House: No, a joke would be me calling you a homo. See the difference? I’ll schedule him for surgery.
Alex: (She gets out of bed.) No, you’re wrong. I’m a girl. (She pulls off her gown.) Look at me! How could you say I’m not a girl? See! They’re all looking at me. I’m beautiful!
House: Anger, it’s just the cancer talking. Put your clothes back on. I’m going to cut your balls off. Then you’ll be fine. (She covers up, crying and looks at her dad who turns to look out the window.)
** End**
The ultimate woman is a man.
NOW what?

Blah
Is it just me or does this really sound peaceful?
Part II
Five things you did not know about poo. (Link courtesy Ronil.)
1. Bird poo is white because birds can’t pee. Their kidneys work like ours do, but instead of producing piss, birds excrete a white paste. The paste, along with what comes out of the intestines, unites and is excreted through the bird’s cloaca, a multi-purpose hole which means sewer in Latin. And, yes, by multi-purpose, I mean they mate through it. (Amen.)
2. Many dogs eat poo. This I know because, sadly, my dog used to eat his own poo on occasion. What I didn’t know was that eating poo has a name: coprophagy, and is, of course, more popular with dung beetles than dogs. If your dog eats his/her own poo, one way to discourage the behavior (other than immediately cleaning up after your dog) is to douse the poo with hot sauce or vinegar.(I wonder why dogs hate vinegar...)
3. The reason why some poo floats is because they have a lot of gas in them. Rather than coming out as flatulence, the gas gets stuck in the poo and forces it to the surface of the water. If there’s a lot of fat in your diet, likewise your poo might float. (This relieves the curiosity of a million indians I guess...)
4. Cavemen were better equipped to chew and digest many plants and vegetables. They had larger molars and longer digestive tracts better at handling foods rich in indigestible cellulose, like, er, corn, for instance. Evolution has worked against our ability to chew and digest corn, which is why when some kernels get swallowed whole they appear in poo.
5. The word poo comes from the Middle English word poupen or popen, which used to be the root of the word we now call a fart. Clearly poo has onomatopoeic origins.(Ah, Shit is informative.)
I've learnt a lot today. I should probably slow down. :P
