Ridiculous.

Have you ever been in a situation when you don't know what to tell people? The same question has different answers. Some questions are pointless, where the answer can do none good. Some questions hae answers, but people don't want to accept them. Some questions are better left unanswered.

Questions are reserved for the people who deserve answers. You don't harry a Japanese chef who's just gotten out of a hostage situation with questions that make him uncomfortable, even though you're a journalist. And even though you pat them on the back and tell them you pray for them, they'd be better off if you didn't fucking put them on TV and label them Hostage #21. And don't ever tell them "We understand what you've been through.", because, face it, you don't.

And do you know that sometimes saying nothing is the best thing to do?

Obviously Barkha, you don't.

.

I am woken up by a terrified mom, telling me about the scenario in Bombay. I had slept yesterday, thinking the worst was over, listening to a Bombay-ite weep blood over the horrible news.

I wake up to hear shots being fired in the Taj, with mom frantically calling dad to see if he is ok.

I wake up to see the reality in all its gory splendor. Mom tells me dad is ok.

I wake up to hear reporters counting gun shots being fired, and people dying. The chief of the anti-terrorist force is dead, they say.

I wake up to realise I would have been in that city at this time, if my trip hadn't been cancelled. What do I feel about this?

I wake up to see columbine, all over again, but just bigger. I am stupefied by this gruesome act. I am jack's cold sweat.

Man's worst enemy is man himself.

Remember remember the 27th of november
The gunpowder grenades and what not.

Mad world, this.

Way, no way!

First of all, before the thought slips out of my head, let me say this.
The new Hide and seek flavors Rule. With a capital R.

Next, Kobayashi da man!!

And thirdly, these holidays are effing-awesome.

Quote for the month : We are sane in our own crazy ways.

Hee hee!! *wink*

And oh, finally, I leave you with htis comment from a fellow leecher, who was obviously overjoyed with eztv's torrents. :))

Ez, ez, ez,

The one with the playlist

Here I stand head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
We are crooked souls trying to stay up straight,
Dry eyes in the pouring rain

The night has fallen, Im lyinawake
I can feel myself fading away
And I know ugliness,
Now show me something pretty.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.

Even the best fall down some time.
Is this the new tear or just another desperation?
Go cry about it - why don't you?

Grey room.

Today I experienced the perfect drizzle for a walk. So I walked. Up the street to the shop opposite to the temple and back again. As slow as possible, with shadow singing in my ear. All the while, smiling like an idiot, gladly accepting the looks varying from "are-you-stupid" to "Sigh! teenagers." and some other looks which could have meant anything.

Ching's hot garlic noodles was another first for today. I ended up adding twice the amount of water required, and whaddyaknow, I got noodle soup, which was divine. All my fears due to the "Garlic" flavor evaporated instantly. The added advantage because of the extra water was it was all the more filling as well. Would probably go well with dosa. He'll try it.

All you people with exams out there, sorry if this is frustrating. Yes, I have actually considered being nice to you for a change, so take it. :)  Poonai kum oru kaalam varum.

A place by the water. Sunlight streaming through, beating the leaves at their very own version of dodgeball. A concrete table surrounded by benches. Silence. Solitude, not loneliness. Every shade of green and blue imaginable. Give me one day of that and I'll write the exams again even.

@title : Yes, I saw it again. And a couple other episodes too ( Informed consent and lines in the sand fyi). Gregory house is beyond doubt one of the best characters ever.

An extract from "Frozen".

CATE: So, how long do I let the lymph node marinate in the red wine?
WILSON: It should be ready now. [Cate look in the microscope. Wilson has a spilt screen and is looking at the same thing.] Try increasing the magnification on the camera. [Cate does so.]
CATE: You know, I e-mailed a couple colleagues at the hospital about you.
WILSON: You're checking up on me, not House?
CATE: Yeah, well House is straightforward, brilliant, and an ass.
WILSON: Two out of three good qualities, clear majority.
CATE: Whereas you, on the other hand, have a perfect score. You are responsible, nice, human, and yet you're House's best friend.
WILSON: Hold there. [Cate stops adjusting.] Makes you think he's secretly nicer than he seems?
CATE: Makes me think that you're secretly a lot less nice than you seem.
WILSON: Do you always insult your doctors?
CATE: It's not an insult. Indiscriminate niceness is overrated.
WILSON: [Smiles.] No wonder he likes you.

P.S : I spent exactly 1984 rupees today towards bills, fuel etc. George Orwell would be proud.

World's shortest sad story, not taking into consideration ":(", or "Boo hoo"

"And just like that, she left."

-inspired by a conference chat.

P.S : Yesterday had the best moon in ages.

Did you know aibohphobia is the fear of palindromes? (no connection with the story whatsoever)

Hey, Bubba!

This has by far been the best exam-month in all my two and a half years of college life. This odd semester jinx has always been there with me. I tend to do better in my odd semesters, with a dip in the middle in the even semester. This semester, the pattern looks to repeat itself. And the best part is, it never felt like exam-week.

One of the major contributors to that cause is the Border Gavaskar trophy, which India successfully lifted today, and which I was able to catch thanks to reliance BIGtv. We'd switched to that, the cable providers' service being something a lot less than poor. Questionable tactics now and then, yes but a win is a win, and the ends sure as hell justify the means, this being dada's last test match and stuff. We won't see him dancing down the pitch to meet murali again, those eyes squinting, searching for that ball which would end up on the roof along with them pigeon droppings. His cover drives are yet to be matched.

The reason I feel that the past month has been awesome, could also be due to the rush caused by the exams getting over, but you don't know that, do you? All you get to know is what I tell you, muwahahaha! And maybe even due to the fact that TWO movies by Frank miller are slated for release int he near future. The spirit and Sin city 2, which though comes little a later. My city screams. Frank Miller's got style, I tell ya.

Getting to know new people more often than not makes your day all the more better. And finding someone who shares the power of ejecting a tiny ballistic stream of water out of your mouth (for lack of a better term :P), hehs. blehs and wolf howls,,and another someone who in her world is called what I'm called in mine, has been like a shot in my arm meant for these exam days.Oh and also the gang-with-a-name-I-won't-bring-myself-to-say. :D. And this train of thought lead me to my best years during school, and yea, reminiscing does you a lot of good, dangerously so.

So, an all-round awesome few weeks these have been. With Visak's sister's marriage and Compiler design bringing up the rear. They were a fine couple, Visak's sister and her love. Same school, same college and the rest, is history.

Leaves me with an ominous feeling about compiler design because, "There has to be a "but" to everything. " I'm really going to haul butt for compiler design, to get rid of the prospective "but".

In a world where people fast to get their job done, show skin to become stars, and hook up to be on page 3, we, with lesser known lives also tread. And we, I can safely say, derive more pleasure in ours than all those people do in theirs.

Night Heron revealed By the rising harvest moon~ Which is lovelier

P.S : I don't exactly love you.

Iced tea at 11 30 PM

If i were quoting my favorite quotes from the movie "Good will hunting", then the entire movie oughta be here. So I'll just stop with just one. Two, rather. One for Robin Williams and one for Matt Damon.

Matt's lines. Oh.My.God.

Will: Why shouldn't I work for the N.S.A.? That's a tough one, but I'll take a shot. Say I'm working at N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. Maybe I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people I never met, never had no problem with, get killed. Now the politicians are sayin', "Oh, send in the Marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a shit. It won't be their kid over there, gettin' shot. Just like it wasn't them when their number got called, 'cause they were pullin' a tour in the National Guard. It'll be some kid from Southie takin' shrapnel in the ass. And he comes back to find that the plant he used to work at got exported to the country he just got back from. And the guy who put the shrapnel in his ass got his old job, 'cause he'll work for fifteen cents a day and no bathroom breaks. Meanwhile, he realizes the only reason he was over there in the first place was so we could install a government that would sell us oil at a good price. And, of course, the oil companies used the skirmish over there to scare up domestic oil prices. A cute little ancillary benefit for them, but it ain't helping my buddy at two-fifty a gallon. And they're takin' their sweet time bringin' the oil back, of course, and maybe even took the liberty of hiring an alcoholic skipper who likes to drink martinis and fuckin' play slalom with the icebergs, and it ain't too long 'til he hits one, spills the oil and kills all the sea life in the North Atlantic. So now my buddy's out of work and he can't afford to drive, so he's got to walk to the fuckin' job interviews, which sucks 'cause the shrapnel in his ass is givin' him chronic hemorrhoids. And meanwhile he's starvin', 'cause every time he tries to get a bite to eat, the only blue plate special they're servin' is North Atlantic scrod with Quaker State. So what did I think? I'm holdin' out for somethin' better. I figure fuck it, while I'm at it why not just shoot my buddy, take his job, give it to his sworn enemy, hike up gas prices, bomb a village, club a baby seal, hit the hash pipe and join the National Guard? I could be elected president.

And now, time for the masterpiece.

So if I asked you about art, you'd probably give me the skinny on every art book ever written. Michelangelo, you know a lot about him. Life's work, political aspirations, him and the pope, sexual orientations, the whole works, right? But I'll bet you can't tell me what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel. You've never actually stood there and looked up at that beautiful ceiling; seen that. If I ask you about women, you'd probably give me a syllabus about your personal favorites. You may have even been laid a few times. But you can't tell me what it feels like to wake up next to a woman and feel truly happy. You're a tough kid. And I'd ask you about war, you'd probably throw Shakespeare at me, right, "once more unto the breach dear friends." But you've never been near one. You've never held your best friend's head in your lap, watch him gasp his last breath looking to you for help. I'd ask you about love, you'd probably quote me a sonnet. But you've never looked at a woman and been totally vulnerable. Known someone that could level you with her eyes, feeling like God put an angel on earth just for you. Who could rescue you from the depths of hell. And you wouldn't know what it's like to be her angel, to have that love for her, be there forever, through anything, through cancer. And you wouldn't know about sleeping sitting up in the hospital room for two months, holding her hand, because the doctors could see in your eyes, that the terms "visiting hours" don't apply to you. You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you've ever dared to love anybody that much. And look at you... I don't see an intelligent, confident man... I see a cocky, scared shitless kid. But you're a genius Will. No one denies that. No one could possibly understand the depths of you. But you presume to know everything about me because you saw a painting of mine, and you ripped my fucking life apart. You're an orphan right?
[Will nods
Sean: You think I know the first thing about how hard your life has been, how you feel, who you are, because I read Oliver Twist? Does that encapsulate you? Personally... I don't give a shit about all that, because you know what, I can't learn anything from you, I can't read in some fuckin' book. Unless you want to talk about you, who you are. Then I'm fascinated. I'm in. But you don't want to do that do you sport? You're terrified of what you might say. Your move, chief.

And the classic. "I had to go see about a girl.". :)

Ze counteeng 'as beegun.

Update : Two words that made my day till now. "He won."

Blue never looked so beautiful on a map before.

Millions throng in chicago for Obama's speech. Atleast for their sake, Obama should win.

CNN is made for American people I guess. On CNN you hear things like "We're doing the math as well, you don't have to worry.(after subtracting two numbers)".

Presidential elections 2008 is turning out to be the biggest soap ever made.

Nov 3, 2008

Well, what do you know. :))

Same look don't you think? :D

This post is not about the my TQM exam getting over.

This post will not contain lines like "I, ooooh, I'm still alive" from my current favorite song, Alive by Pearl Jam.

This post will not contain any news about movies I watched recently like "The Simpsons movie" And "Bachna Ae Haseeno.(timepass(yes that is the code word for deepika/bipasha :D))".

This post will not contain any news whatsoever of the fact that Massa almost won the grand prix or how wonderfully awesome a player kumble was.

This post is also not about the fact that I am having a wonderful past two weeks and how murphy can go to hell.

As I am on about what all this is post is not about, lemme add this too. This post is so not about how 190 TV channels even don't chase the boredom away.

So what is this post about? If I say this post is about everything this post is not about, won't I be contradicting myself?  Too many questions. I should have left it at "Does this coffee have less sugar or is it just fine?". I think too much. Or do I? See, there I did it again.
